Top Knocks Of Virat Kohli In Odi World Cup

Over the years we have seen Players put on a demi-god-like pedestal whenever a player performs well in the Cricket World Cup.

It does not matter if you were unknown before, but if you took your team home or made your team win big, you will be admired and remembered for generations to come.

Virat Kohli, is only behind his idol Sachin Tendulkar, in terms of the number of international centuries.

He has scored many hundreds which everyone remembers but scoring well in a multinational tournament in front of thousands of fans is a different feeling altogether.

Here is a look at the top 5 Knocks by Virat Kohli in  ODI World Cups.

1.35 runs Vs Sri Lanka, 2011 World Cup Final

The match started in a packed stadium in Wankhede with thousands of Indian Cricket Fans cheering for the Indian Team and waiting for them to lift the World Cup.

Sri Lanka put up a total of 274 runs with a brilliant hundred by Mahela Jayawardene.

No other team had managed to win a Cricket World Cup Final on home soil.

The iconic pair of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar came out to bat against a lethal bowling attack of Sri Lanka.

India lost their first wicket in the 2nd ball of the over itself.

Then the moment comes when every fan in the Wankhede Stadium goes mum.

Sachin Tendulkar gets out.

India lost 2 wickets with just 31 runs on the board, and just when everyone thought it was almost over for India, out came a 22-year-old Virat Kohli with dreams in his eyes to win the World Cup for the country and his idol, Sachin Tendulkar.

Malinga was already breathing fire, but Kohli who could not let his country down built a partnership with Gautam Gambhir.

Both of them batted well and handled the bowling attack of Sri Lanka with maturity.

Virat Kohli ended up with a score of just 35 runs that day but given the situation and the amount of responsibility he had on his shoulders after Sachin and Sehwag got out was immense.

He showed us a glimpse of what we were going to witness in the next 15 years.

This will remain the best knock of Virat Kohli in the Odi World Cups. Maybe it was not a 100, not even a 50 but it will be remembered forever.

Traveled to the holy city of Varanasi

Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.

The furthest I have traveled from my home is to a whole new state and city known as Varanasi.

One fine evening I was just wondering how it would feel to watch the Ganga Arti from the Ganges of Varanasi,

And just like that I booked my flight and traveled to Varanasi with my grandmother and aunt.

And traveling to Varanasi was one of the best decisions ever.

I have had an amazing experience.

From visiting Vishwanath temple daily, to watching Ganga Arti to visiting sarnath everything seemed holy.

Not to forget the cute little monkey that you’d see in every corner of Varanasi.

These are the things that made my experience unforgettable .

Daily habit

What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Every single person in this world likes to do something that improves the quality of their lives .

I have a habit that I have been following for years to improve the quality of my life as well.

It’s chanting ” NAM MYOHO RENGE KYO ” daily. I merely chant this to keep myself motivated and happy.

Whenever I feel I am drowning in sadness and I think I reached the lowest state of my life I start chanting this.

It not only makes me feel calm but makes me feel more confident and empathetic.

Ideal Home

What does your ideal home look like?

My ideal home should be something that can protect me from zombie apocalypse.

It sounds funny and impossible but that’s one of the most important things that I want

Secondly, my home should be huge and luxurious!

It should have lots of rooms along with a centralized air conditioner with a separate home theatre and a big garden.

The Asia Cup has always been something people look up to since always. Every youngster tries his best to show his mettle in this tournament.

In 2012 Pakistan team ended up with a huge score of 329, which was a giant score back in the day.

It was an opportunity for 24-year-old Virat Kohli to show the world that he has arrived.

And what an Arrival it was!!

After losing Gautam Gambhir early, he made a great partnership with his idol Sachin Tendulkar. Soon after Sachin got out, he continued to attack the lethal bowling attack of Pakistan and demolished the opposition.

The Pakistan team had no answers to this 24-year-old Virat Kohli.

This will remain not only the greatest ODI knock by Virat Kohli but also among the top 5 ODI knocks of all time.

#2 133* vs Sri Lanka, Hobart 2012

Virat Kohli roars like a lion as he makes a mockery of Malinga.

The year 2012 was indeed a turning point for Virat Kohli’s career as he carved out one masterclass after another to give us a peek into what was about to follow.

It was a tri-series between top cricketing nations like Australia, India, and Sri Lanka.

Mind you it was a knockout match for India.

India needed to chase a mammoth total of 321 within 40 overs to even stand a chance in the tri-series.

What does Virat Kohli do? He takes Lasith Malinga to the cleaners and chases the total in 36.4 overs.

#3 122 vs England, Pune 2017

Virat Kohli smashes a match-winning 122, as he starts his ODI captaincy on a high note.

It was the first match of Virat Kohli as ODI captain. He had a job to do not just as a batter but as a leader as well.

India was chasing a total of 350 runs against England. The home side got off to a horrendous start as they lost 4 quick wickets.

It was Virat’s responsibility to take the team home as a captain, and he did that with absolute disdain in a typical Kohli-esque run-chase.

Who would have thought he would end up having a match-winning partnership with a newcomer like Kedar Jadhav?  But he did.

Who can forget the short-arm jab he played against Chris Woakes? Or the million (yeah, it felt like that) cover-drives and lofted drives he stroked that magical night?

One can argue that Kedar Jadhav played a better knock but because it was his first match as a captain, it was among the best ODI knocks of Virat Kohli.

The ongoing season is yet another chance for the Indian superstar to carve out yet another unprecedented feat as he is on cusp of becoming the first man on the planet to smash 50 centuries in this format.

at’s dominance in ODIs that it is frankl of his best knocks. But, this blog aims at doing just the same.
